How to Set Up a Live Inventory Overlay in OBS (Step-by-Step for Whatnot Sellers)

10 min read · OBS · Whatnot · eBay Live

A live inventory overlay is a webpage that sits on top of your stream in OBS. When you push an item from your inventory dashboard, it appears on screen for your viewers — name, price, image, grade — in real time. No leaving the camera. No holding up a card and hoping the resolution is good enough.

Caddie’s overlay uses OBS’s built-in Browser Source feature. You add a URL once, and every push you make during your show updates it automatically. Here’s how to set it up.

What you need before you start

⚠ This is not an OBS plugin. Caddie’s overlay is a plain webpage — no installation, no extensions.

Step 1 — Load your inventory

Log into your Caddie dashboard and add your items before going live. Each item needs a name, price, and image. You can add items one at a time, import via CSV, or use the QR mobile upload to photograph cards directly from your phone.

You don’t need your full inventory loaded to start — even 10–15 items is enough to test the overlay during a show.

Step 2 — Copy your browser source URL

In your Caddie dashboard, go to Overlay Settings. You’ll see a unique URL that looks like: app.getcaddie.now/overlay/your-token. Copy that URL. This is your permanent overlay address — it never changes unless you rotate it.

Step 3 — Add it to OBS as a Browser Source

In OBS, open your stream scene and click the + button in the Sources panel. Select Browser. Paste your Caddie URL into the URL field. Set the width to 1920 and height to 1080 (or match your stream resolution). Click OK.

Step 4 — Position the overlay

The overlay is transparent by default — only the card(s) show when you push something. Drag it to cover your full scene. Cards appear in the lower portion of the frame by default, but Pro users can customize position and layout. Keep it above your camera feed in the source stack so it renders on top.

Step 5 — Test a push

Open your Caddie dashboard alongside OBS. Search for an item, then click Push to overlay. Switch to OBS and you should see the card appear on your preview. If it shows up, you’re done. Your overlay is live for every show from here on.
